The Baltic 17U baseball team earned two wins on back-to-back nights. They defeated Dell Rapids on Monday, June 22nd and picked up a win over Flandreau on Tuesday, June 23rd.
Baltic 14, Dell Rapids 4
Baltic scored in every inning but one in a 10-run win over Dell Rapids. Both teams scored a run in the first inning. Baltic put five runs on the board in the bottom of the second. After Dell Rapids scored a run in the top of the third, Baltic scored three more times in the bottom of the third for a 9-2 lead. They added another run in the bottom of the fifth for a 10-2 advantage. Dell Rapids scored twice in the top of the sixth, but Baltic scored six runs in the bottom of the inning for a 10-run win.
Paxton Fuhrer had two singles and four RBIs. Elias Oakley had a single and double with an RBI. Gavin Skotvold finished with a double and two RBIs. Jackson Goehring had a single with two RBIs. Isaac Oakley had a hit and an RBI. Cale Roach and Bodhi Giedd each had a single. Brechen Fredrick finished with two RBIs.
I. Oakley pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits and six walks with three strikeouts. Laken Kortemeyer pitched 2/3 of an inning recording a walk and strikeout.
Baltic 16, Flandreau 5
Baltic took an early lead and never trailed in the game. They scored three runs in the top of the first. Flandreau cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the bottom of the first. Baltic extended their lead with three runs in the top of the second and seven in the fourth for a 13-2 lead. Flandreau had three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Baltic ended the scoring with three runs in the top of the fifth.
Goehring ended with two hits and three RBIs. Fuhrer had two hits and an RBI. I. Oakey and Zach Helgeson each had a single and two RBIs. E. Oakley had a triple. Skotvold finished with a single. Trey Van Wassenhove and Roach both had one RBI each. Kortemeyer pitched five innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
