The 2026 season for the Baltic Jr Legion baseball team came to an end in the Region 2B Tournament in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, July 28th. They lost to both Madison and Dell Rapids after an opening round win on Monday.
Madison 12, Baltic 5
Despite having a lead early in the game, Baltic fell to Madison in the semifinals. Baltic scored a single run in the top of the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead. Madison tied the score, 2-2, with two runs in the bottom of the second. Baltic rallied for three in the top of the third to go back in front 5-2. Madison picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth and then had a big six-run fifth inning for a 9-5 lead. They added three more in the bottom of the sixth.
Elias Oakley had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Gavin Skotvvold also had two hits. Braeden Breece had a hit with two RBIs. Zach Helgeson ended with a single.
Dell Rapids 15, Baltic 5
In an elimination game, Dell Rapids scored 12 runs in the bottom of the second for a 12-1 lead. They scored another run in the bottom of the third. Baltic had four runs in the top of the fifth to make the score 13-5, but Dell Rapids scored a run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Brechen Fredrick had a double and single with two RBIs. Cale Roach also had a double. Laken Kortemeyer and Brody Hansen each had a single. Skotvold added an RBI.
