Baltic 17U Goes 1-1 in I29 League Tournament

The Baltic 17U baseball team finished 1-1 at the I-29 League Tournament on Saturday, June 20th.   They lost a close game to Canton but earned a win over Garretson.

Canton 3, Baltic 2

Canton broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth which proved to be the game winning run.  Each team scored a run in the first inning.  Baltic took the lead, 2-1, with another run in the top of the third.  Canton tied the game with another run in the bottom of the third.  They would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Baltic didn’t have a hit in the game, but Jackson Goehring had an RBI.  Trey Van Wassenhove pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

Baltic 19, Garretson 7

Baltic pulled away from Garretson with a big eight-run top of the fifth.  Each team scored two runs in the first inning.  They both had big innings in the second.  Baltic scored six in their half of the inning, but Garretson scored five times for an 8-7 score.  Baltic plated three runs in the top of the third and then had their eight-run fifth inning.

Brechen Fredrick had three hits, including a double and home run, with four RBIs.  Brody Hansen also had three hits, one a double, with two RBIs.  Gavin Skotvold added two doubles and three RBIs.  Goehring and Paxton Fuhrer both had two hits and two RBIs each.  Bodhi Giedd had two singles.  Laken Kortemeyer had a single and two RBIs.  Van Wassenhove had a double and an RBI.  Brody Aapass added a single and an RBI.  Isaac Oakley finished with a double, and Zach Helgeson had a single.
