The Baltic 17U baseball team traveled to Humboldt and played both the West Central VFW JV and West Central VFW Varsity teams on Monday, June 29th.
Baltic 17, West Central JV 0
In the first game of the night, Baltic put eight quick runs on the board in the top of the first inning and kept cruising from there. They added two runs in the second and three more in the third for a 13-0 lead. Baltic would score four more times in the top of the fifth, and the game ended on the 10-run rule after the fifth inning.
Gavin Skotvold had two hits and two RBIs. Elias Oakley finished with a single and two RBIs. Trey Van Wassenhove added a triple with an RBI. Braeden Breece had a double with an RBI. Paxton Fuhrer and Zach Helgeson each had a single and an RBI. Bodhi Giedd also had a single.
West Central Varsity 11, Baltic 10
West Central scored two times in the bottom of the seventh after a furious rally by Baltic to get the win in the second game. Baltic scored three times in the top of the first for an early 3-0 lead. West Central tied the game, 3-3, in the bottom of the second. They would then score four runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-3 lead into the seventh inning. Baltic rallied for seven runs in the top of the seventh to go in front 10-9, but West Central scored two runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning to steal the win.
Skotvold had three hits and an RBI. Fuhrer added two singles and three RBIs. Oakley finished with two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Brechen Fredrick finished with a single. Cale Roach had two RBIs, and Jackson Goehring had one RBI.
