String of Runs Help Bulldog Softball to Win over Garretson

The Baltic Bulldog softball team used a string of runs to lead them to an 11-3 home win over the Garretson Blue Dragons on Thursday, May 13th.

Jaz Vrchota scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first to give Baltic a 1-0 lead.  Garretson tied the game, 1-1, with a run in the top of the second.  Jordyn Wehde put the Bulldogs back in front, 3-1, with a two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the second.  The Blue Dragons would tie the game again, 3-3, with two runs in the top of the third.

Baltic took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Analiyah Hansen laid down an RBI sacrifice bunt to score Madyson Determan for a 4-3 lead.  Wehde would score on a wild pitch.  Kya Rollinger then hit a two-run home run to extend the lead to 7-3.  The offense continued in the bottom of the fifth.  Determan had an RBI double and later scored on an error.  Wehde added an RBI double to push the lead to 10-3.  Ashlyn Klein drove home another run in the bottom of the sixth.

Wehde finished with three hits, including a home run and double, with three RBIs.  Anna Hoekman had three singles.  Rollinger had a home run and two RBIs.  Determan ended with a double and an RBI.  Amelia Sinding and Ellie Pickett each had a single.  Klein and Hansen both had an RBI.  Charlee Blommer pitched seven innings and allowed three unearned runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts.
