Bulldog Softball Splits Two Games in Sioux Center

The Baltic Bulldog softball team had two games to start the 2025 season at the American State Bank Sports Complex in Sioux Center, IA on Saturday, May 29th.  The Bulldogs fell to Sioux Falls Christian and earned a win over Arlington

Sioux Falls Christian 10, Baltic 3

The Bulldogs struck first in the top of the first inning.  Amelia Sinding had an RBI ground out, and Harper Kortemeyer scored on an error to give Baltic a 2-0 lead.  Sioux Falls Christian got one run back in the bottom of the second.  They took the lead, 3-2, with two runs in the bottom of the third.  Baltic tied the game in the top fifth.  Kortemeyer hit an RBI double to right field to make the score 3-3.  Sioux Falls Christian, however, had a big bottom of the fifth by scoring seven runs for the 10-3 score.

Kortemeyer had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Anna Hoekman also had two hits, including a double.  Kya Rollinger had two singles.  Aamaris Handsaker and Madyson Determan both had a single.  Sinding added an RBI.

Baltic 14, Arlington 4

The Bulldogs broke a 3-3 tie with an 11-run top of the sixth inning.  Handaker scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning, and Sinding added an RBI single for an early 2-0 lead.  Kortemeyer had an RBI walk in the top of the second to extend the lead to 3-0.  Arlington pushed across two runs in the bottom of the fourth and one more in the fifth to tie the game 3-3.

The Baltic offense then exploded in the sixth inning.  They had six straight hits and scored four runs to start the inning for a 7-3 lead.  The Bulldogs added two more runs, one on a wild pitch and one on an error, to make the score 9-3.  They followed that with a run on a steal of home and another on a wild pitch for an 11-3 score before an out was even recorded.  Kalyce Nohava added an RBI triple, and Castyn Rogers had an RBI sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 14-3.  Arlington scored just one run in the bottom of the sixth.

Nohava had three hits, including a triple, and three RBIs.  Determan and Ellie Pickett both had two hits each.  Rogers had a double with three RBIs.  Sinding and Koremeyer both had one single and one RBI each.  Ashlyn Klein and Kaylee Siemonsma both had a double.  Handsaker also had a single.
