McCook Central defeated the Baltic high school baseball team with six runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 win on Friday, May 19th. The loss snapped a five game winning streak for Baltic.
Neither team scored in the first inning. Jackson Goehring brought home two runs with a single in the top of the second. McCook Central/Montrose got one run back in the bottom of the inning. Matt Muston extended the Baltic lead with a two-run single in the top of the third. Tayden Hansen added an RBI single in the top of the sixth to make the score 5-1. Baltic added another run in the top of the seventh when Gunner Schultz stole home. McCook Central/Montrose, however, rallied in the bottom of the seventh with six runs to get the walk-off win.
Muston and Goehring each had two hits and two RBIs each. Hansen had two hits and an RBI. G. Schultz finished with three singles. Riley Schultz also had a hit. R. Schultz pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts. Jose Valadez pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed four earned runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout. Tate Feucht pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing two unearned runs on a hit and two walks.
