Scotland Takes Lead Late in Fourth, Beats Alcester-Hudson Girls

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs traveled to Scotland on Tuesday, January 24th, and fell the Highlanders 45-41 in a back-and-forth battle.

The Cubs had a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.  They pushed that lead to 20-13 with 2:00 to play in the second quarter.  Scotland finished the first half on a 7-0 run to tie the game 20-20.  The third quarter was back and forth with the largest lead coming at the end of it.  The Cubs ended the third quarter lead 32-28.  Scotland tied the game 34-34 with about 6:00 to go.  The Highlanders then went ahead 37-34 on their next offensive possession.  The two teams traded baskets over the next three minutes.  The Cubs took a 41-40 lead with 1:45 to go after a basket by Elly Doering.  Scotland, however, finished the game on a 5-0 run for the win.

Alcester-Hudson shot 43% (18-42) overall in the game, 29% (4-14) from three-point area, but just 1-9 from the free-throw line.

Doering finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.  Ella Serck added eight points and five rebounds.  Alexis Gray had six points and five rebounds.  Emily Winquist had five points and two rebounds.  Emma Solberg also had five points.
