Cougars Pull Away from Cub Girls in Second Half

The Alcester-Hudson Cub girls stayed step-for-step with the Viborg-Hurley Cougars in the first half on Tuesday, January 14th.  The Cougars pulled away in the second half, though, for a 47-36 win.

Viborg-Hurley held a 7-2 lead in the first quarter.  Emma Solberg made back-to-back three-point shots to put the Cubs in front 8-7 with 2:00 to play in the quarter.  The first quarter ended with the Cubs leading 8-7.  The Cougars took the lead again in the second quarter, but they only led by two points, 23-21 at halftime.  Viborg-Hurley started to pull away late in the third quarter.  They ended the quarter leading 34-26.  The Cubs couldn’t get any closer than five points in the fourth quarter.

Solberg finished with 11 points and five rebounds.  Jenna Manning added nine points and three rebounds.  Emily Winquist ended with eight points , three rebounds, and two steals.  Delta Pies had four points and six rebounds.  Hannah Ahart had two points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Ayonna Schissel also had two points.
