Big Third Quarter Key to Cub Boys Win

The Alcester-Hudson Cub boys used a big third quarter to help them to a 61-37 win at home against the Scotland Highlanders on Tuesday, January 23rd.

The Cubs got out to a quick double-digit lead early in the first quarter, but the Highlanders cut the lead to 18-13 by quarter’s end.  The gap stayed around five-to-seven points most of the second quarter, and the Cubs led 30-23 going into halftime.  Alcester-Hudson came out of the locker room and outscored Scotland 20-6 in the third quarter for a 50-29 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

Three players finished in double figures.  Jose Topete-Lopez had 16 points and eight rebounds.  Dominic Van Egdom finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds.  Ethan Bovill added 14 points.  Mateo Kleinhans had seven points, five rebounds, and eight assists.
