Third Quarter Run Enough for Freeman for Win over Cub Boys

A third quarter run was just enough for the Freeman Flyers to help them to an 80-72 win over the Alcester-Hudson Cub boys on Thursday, February 6th.

The Flyers built a 10-point lead in the opening quarter, but the Cubs fought back to within three points, 21-18, by the end of the quarter.  Alcester-Hudson was able to make up those three points in the second quarter, and the game was tied 30-30 going into halftime.

The two teams traded points to start the third quarter and were tied 34-34.  Over the next three minutes, the Flyers went on a 16-7 run to go ahead 50-41 with 3:15 to play in the quarter.  That run was enough to keep them in front the rest of the game.  Freeman led 55-48 going into the fourth quarter.  The Cubs got within four points a couple of times late in the game, but the Flyers made their free throws in the closing moments to secure the win.

Ethan Bovill had 27 points.  Evan Brown finished in double figures as well with 18 points.  Jose Topete-Lopez added nine points.  Evan Haak had six points.  Brody Andrews, Jacob Cole, and Tommy Walth all had four points each.
