The Alcester-Hudson Cubs had just their second home match of the season on Thursday, September 26th. They hosted the Centerville Tornadoes in a match that went five sets. Centerville ended up taking the win by scores of 16-25, 25-19, 13-25, 25-23, and 15-10.
During the match, Jenna Manning reached 1000 digs, and Hannah Ahart reached 1,000 set assists for their high school careers.
After a close 9-8 score in the first set, the Cubs pushed their lead to 14-9 and then won the first set 25-16. Centerville held a four point lead, 12-8, in the second set. They were able to maintain that lead to 20-16. The Tornadoes finished the set on a 5-3 run for a 25-19 win.

Alcester-Hudson started the third set with a 2-0 lead and held it at 6-4. That’s when the Cubs went on a run. They extended their lead to 16-5 and then 21-9 before winning 25-13. The fourth set started with a 3-3 tie. The Cubs went in front 8-7, but Centerville went on a 3-1 run for a 10-9 lead. The Tornadoes stayed ahead at 19-17. Alcester-Hudson tied the score 21-21. The score stayed tied 23-23, but Centerville scored the final two points for the 25-23 win.
The fifth set went back and forth. The Cubs led first at 2-1 and then pushed the lead to 5-2. Centerville tied the score 5-5 and then went ahead 7-5. Alcester-Hudson pulled within a point, 10-9, but the Tornadoes finished the match on a 5-1 run for the 15-10 win.

Ahart finished with 23 digs, 20 set assists, eight kills, and four ace serves. Emma Moller added 12 digs, six kills, and four ace serves. Emma Solberg had 18 kills, and Devin Hongslo had six kills. Jaeley Christensen ended with 14 digs and 13 set assists. Manning had 22 digs, and Baylee Klaschen had 13 digs.
