The Alcester-Hudson Cubs cruised to their second win of the season on Friday, September 6th. Alcester-Hudson earned a 56-6 road win over the Irene-Wakonda Eagles.
The Cubs wasted no time putting points on the board. They scored 28 points in the first quarter. Joes Topete-Lopez had a one-yard touchdown run. Evan Brown had a 16-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Bovill. Bovill later added a 10-yard touchdown run, and Brown added a 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Brown got his third touchdown of the game on a five-yard run in the second quarter. The Cubs led 34-0 at halftime.
The points kept coming in the second half. Bovill had a 14-yard touchdown run, and a made two-point conversion made the score 42-0. The Eagles lone touchdown came on a 90-yard kickoff return making the score 42-6. Tommy Walth had an 11-yard touchdown pass to Bovill and another two-point conversion increased the lead to 50-6. The final score came in the fourth quarter on a five-yard touchdown run by Darin Dykstra.
Alcester-Hudson finished with 316 yards of total offense, 214 rushing yards and 102 passing yards. The Eagles had 78 yards of offense, 21 rushing yards and 57 receiving yards. Brown had six carries for 97 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Walth had five carries for 52 yards. Topete-Lopez had seven carries for 52 yards and a touchdown. Dykstra added six carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. Bovill ran two times for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Walth was 4-7 passing for 86 yards and a touchdown. Brown was 1-1 passing for 16 yards and a touchdown. Bovill had four catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Topete-Lopez had a catch for 19 yards.
Walth finished with 5.5 tackles on defense. Owen Serck had five tackles. Tate Braatan and Brown added three tackles each. Dykstra had 2.5 tackles and an interception. Jacob Cole also had 2.5 tackles.
