The Alcester-Hudson Cubs scored a big homecoming win over the Gayville-Volin Raiders on Friday, September 27th. After putting 30 points on the board in the first quarter, Alcester-Hudson cruised to the 52-0 win.
Tommy Walth and Ethan Bovill started the first-quarter scoring frenzy with a 57-yard touchdown thrown and catch. Walth would connect with Jackson Meyer from 22 yards away later in the quarter. After a two-point conversion, the Cubs led 14-0. Evan Brown added to the score with a four-yard touchdown run, and Jose Topete-Lopez had a three-yard touchdown run before quarter’s end. Both two-point conversions were made for a 30-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Walth would add a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and then threw a pass to Brown for the two-point conversion to give the Cubs a 38-0 lead. That’s where the score stayed at halftime. Walth and Bovill connected again in third quarter for a 17-yard touchdown. A two-point conversion made the score 46-0. The final score of the game came on a 14-yard touchdown run by Jackson Meyer in the fourth quarter.
The Cubs had a total of 400 yards of offense, 203 passing yards and 197 rushing yards. Gayville-Volin had 151 yards of offense, 158 passing yards but -7 rushing yards. Brown had seven carries for 80 yards and a touchdown. Walth finished with four carries for 28 yards and a touchdown. Meyer had three attempts for 13 yards and a touchdown. Topete-Lopez also had a touchdown. Darin Dykstsra added three carries for 50 yards. Walth was also 8-13 passing for 201 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Bovill had six catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
Meyer led the defense in tackles with seven in the game. Dykstra finished with five tackles and an interception. Walth added four tackles. Owen Serck and Brown both had 3.5 tackles each. Cole Ahart had an interception.
