The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team finally had their first home match of the season on Thursday, September 5th. The Gayville-Volin Raiders spoiled the home opener and won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-8, 25-16, and 25-14.
The Raiders started the first set with a 5-1 run and stayed in front by four points at 9-5. Gayville-Volin then extended the lead to 16-8 before finishing the first set on a 9-0 run. The Cubs opened the second set with a 3-0 run. The Raiders tied the score 6-6 and then went ahead 12-10. They extended the lead to 19-13 and won the set 25-16. The third set started with ties of 3-3 and 7-7. Gayville-Volin went on a 6-0 run for a 13-7 lead. The lead grew to 22-13 before the Raiders won 25-14.
Delta Pies had three kills, two digs, and two blocks. Hannah Ahart had 17 digs, an ace, and two kills. Emma Moller added two kills, five digs, and two blocks. Paxtyn Moller finished with 13 digs and nine set assists. Jenna Manning added 10 digs. Emily Winquist had nine digs, and Jaeley Christensen had seven digs and a set assist.
