After taking the lead in the first quarter, the Viborg-Hurley Cougars held off the Alcester-Hudson Cubs for a 56-44 win on Monday, February 5th.
The Cubs grabbed an early 7-3 lead with 5:00 to go in the opening quarter. The Cougars finished the quarter on a 13-4 run for a 16-11 lead. Viborg-Hurley extended the lead to 30-22 by halftime. Every time the Cubs got within four-to-six points, the Cougars had a response to keep the lead. Viborg-Hurley held a 41-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Three players finished in the double figures. Emily Winquist finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Elly Doering added 13 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists. Emma Solberg had 10 points, two rebounds, and two steals. Delta Pies ended with four points, 10 rebounds, and five steals.
