Alcester-Hudson Boys Hold off Avon with Overtime Win

Holding a nine-point lead going into the fourth quarter, the Alcester-Hudson Cubs got an overtime win over the Avon Pirates at home on Tuesday, January 2nd.  Ethan Bovill made one of three free-throws with :00.3 left in overtime to give the Cubs a 51-50 win.

The Cubs got out to a 16-11 lead by the end of the first quarter.  Avon cut the lead to 28-25 by halftime.  Alcester-Hudson outscored Avon 13-7 in the third quarter for a 41-32 lead going into the fourth quarter.  Avon rallied and tied the score late in the game.  The Pirates did take the lead, but Alcester-Hudson tied the game and forced overtime 46-46.  The two teams were tied 50-50 in the closing seconds of overtime.  Bovill was fouled on a buzzer-beater, three-point attempt.  After missing the first one, Bovill made the second free-throw for the 51-50 win.

Mateo Kleinhans had 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Bovill finished with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Dominic Van Egdom added nine points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  William Hallaway had four points and three rebounds.
