Cubs Fall to Colman-Egan in SoDak 16

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team had their season come to an end in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, November 7th.  The Cubs fell in straight sets to the Colman-Egan Hawks by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-9.

Alcester-Hudson had the lead early in the first two sets.  In the opening set, the Cubs started with a 3-0 lead and still led by three at 5-2.  The Hawks made a 5-0 run to go ahead 7-5 and then never trailed the rest of the set.  Colman-Egan extended the lead to 11-7 and then 18-10 before finishing with a 25-17 win.

The Cubs started the second set with a 4-1 lead.  They were still in front 7-5, but Colman-Egan went on a 4-0 run to go in front 9-7.  The Hawks remained in front by three, 15-12, before going on a 7-1 run to extend the lead to 22-13.  Colman-Egan took the second set 25-15.

The momentum of winning the first two sets certainly favored Colman-Egan in set three.  The Hawks started the third set with a 9-0 run.  They extended the lead to 15-1 before winning the set 25-9.

Alexis Gray had 23 digs, six kills, and three ace serves.  Hannah Ahart finished with 15 set assists and 10 digs.  Carly Patrick added 12 digs and four kills.  Elly Doering had 11 digs, four kills, and four blocks.  Jenna Manning finished with 29 digs, and Baylee Klaschen had 14 digs.

The Cubs finish their 2023 season with an overall record of 23-9.
