Alcester-Hudson Football Wins Again at Home

The Alcester-Hudson Cub football team improved to 5-0 on the season with a home win over the Chester Flyers on Friday September 15th.  An early lead helped the Cubs to a 34-20 victory.

Mateo Kleinhans connected with Ethan Bovill on a 55-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to give the Cubs the lead.  Evan Brown scored the two-point conversion to lead 8-0.  Kleinhans had a 61-yard touchdown later in the quarter to extend the lead.  After a made two-point conversion, Alcester-Hudson led 16-0.  Chester got on the board in the first quarter on a 16-yard pass to cut the lead to 16-6.

The Flyers cut the lead to 16-12 after a seven yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.  Kleinhans had his second rushing touchdown on a 12-yard run before halftime to extend the lead to 22-12.

In the third quarter, Kleinhans scored again on an eight yard run to put the Cubs ahead 28-12.  Chester got a five-yard touchdown pass later in the third.  A made two-point conversion cut the lead to 28-20.  Alcester-Hudson put the game out of reach when Kleinhans scored his fourth rushing touchdown from two-yards away.

Game Stats

The Cubs finished with 455 yards of total offense, 375 rushing yards and 80 passing yards.  The Flyers had 249 yards of offense, 210 passing yards and 39 rushing yards.  Alcester-Hudson had 23 first downs compared to 14 for Chester.

Kleinhans had 23 carries for 170 yards and four touchdowns.  Jose Topete-Lopez finished with 10 carries for 131 yards.  Brown added nine carries for 74 yards.  Kleinhans was also 6-9 passing for 80 yards and a touchdown.  Bovill had a catch for 55 yards and a touchdown.  Brown had two grabs for 25 yards.  Brown also led the team with 4.5 tackles.  Bovill, Dominic Van Egdom, William Hallaway, Aidan Cole, and Topete-Lopez all had 3.5 tackles each.  Cole also had two sacks.
