Cubs Stay Unbeaten on the Gridiron

The Alcester-Hudson Cub football team improved to 4-0 after a 62-7 win against the Garretson Blue Dragons in Garretson on Friday, September 8th.

Tommy Walth scored on a 14-yard run in the first quarter for an early 6-0 lead.  Garretson took the lead, 7-6, later in the quarter on a 42-yard interception return for touchdown and an extra point.  The first quarter ended with Garretson leading 7-6.

The Cubs then scored 56 straight points.  Walth scored again on a 28-yard run.  Mateo Kleinhans had a 60-yard touchdown run. Joese Topete-Lopez added a six-yard touchdown run.  Walth scored for the third time on a one-yard run.  The Cubs led 36-7 at halftime.

Alcester-Hudson continued their run in the third quarter.  Topete-Lopez had a 41-yard touchdown run.  Darin Dykstra had a 29-yard touchdown run, and Ethan Brown had a 50-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 56-7.  Jackson Meyer had the last touchdown for the Cubs on a 46-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Cubs had a total of 513 yards of offense, 453 rushing yards and 60 passing yards.  The Blue Dragons finished with 69 yards of total offense, eight rushing yards and 61 passing yards.

Walth had seven carries for 140 yards and three touchdowns.  Kleinhans had two carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.  Borwn also had two carries for 59 yards and a touchdown.  Topete-Lopez added four carries for 54 yards and two touchdowns.  Meyer had two runs for 46 yards and a touchdown, and Dykstra had one carry for 29 yards and a touchdown.  Walth was also 3-5 passing for 36 yards.  Bovill had two catches for 39 yards.

Dykstra finished with 6.5 tackles.  Aden Moller had 4.5 tackles.  Owen Serck finished with 3.5 tackles.  Jensen Christensen had three tackles and a sack.  Brown had 1.5 tackles and an interception.  Dammel Vermeersch also recorded a sack.
