The Alcester-Hudson Cubs football team opened the 2023 season with a big road win in Centerville on Friday, August 18th. The Tornadoes scored the first touchdown of the game, but the Cubs outscored them 51-12 the rest of the game for a 51-18 win.
After Centerville scored first in the opening quarter, Alcester-Hudson scored two touchdowns in the quarter for a 12-6 lead. The Cubs then scored the next three touchdowns in the second quarter to push the lead to 36-6. The Tornadoes added one more score to make the score 36-18 later in the quarter. The Cubs, however, got one more score before halftime for a 44-12 halftime lead.
Alcester-Hudson added one more touchdown in the third quarter with an extra point to make the score 51-12. The Tornadoes also scored one more time in the third quarter.
The Cubs finished with 390 yards of total offense, 245 of those yards coming on the ground. Centerville had 255 yards of offense, 204 coming through the air. The Cubs also had 16 first downs compared to just eight for Centerville.
