Nighthawks Clip Cubs at Conference Tournament

The Tripp-Delmont/Armour Nighthawks squeaked past the Alcester-Hudson Cub (5-14) girls at a Great Plains Conference tournament game held at Corsica-Stickney High School on Saturday, February 11th.  The Nighthawks won 39-37.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour outscored the Cubs in two of the four quarters of the game, and each of those two quarters the difference was one point.  The game was tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.  The Nighthawks took a slim 20-19 lead into halftime.  Again both teams scored seven points in the second quarter, and Tripp-Delmont/Armour led 27-26 going into the fourth quarter.  The Nighthawks outscored the Cubs 12-11 in the final quarter.

Alcester-Hudson shot 30% (16-54) overall in the game, 1-12 on three-point attempts, and 4-9 from the free-throw line.  The Cubs finished with 34 team rebounds, eight steals, but 17 turnovers.

Elly Ddoering had 16 points, nine steals, and two blocked shots.  Ella Serck had seven points and 11 rebounds.  Alexis Gray added six points and four rebounds.  Emily Winquist, Carly Patrick, Jenna Manning, and Emma Moller all had two points each.
