Last Minute Rally Falls Short for Cub Girls

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs (5-13) nearly erased a 10-point deficit in the final minute of the game, but their rally ultimately fell short against the Baltic Bulldogs on Thursday, February 9th.  The Bulldogs held for a 54-48 victory.

Both teams struggled to get the offense going in the first quarter.  The quarter ended in a 6-6 tie.  Baltic started the second quarter on a 5-0 run and kept the lead through the rest of the quarter.  The Bulldogs led 25-16 at halftime.  Alcester-Hudson went on a 14-5 run in the third quarter and led 30-29 with 2:30 to play in the quarter.  Baltic responded with a 9-0 over the next two minutes and led 38-32 going into the fourth quarter.  The Cubs trailed 50-40 with 1:09 to play in the game.  They scored eight points in forty-three seconds to make the score 50-48 with :26 to go, but Baltic made enough free throws in the closing moments to hang on for the win.

Elly Doering had 25 points and 10 rebounds.  Emily Winquist had six points and five rebounds.  Carly Patrick added five points and three rebounds.  Jenna Manning and Alexis Gray also both had five points each.
