Alcester-Hudson Puts Game Away Late for Third Straight Win

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs football team earned their third straight win at Burke on Friday, September 2nd.  The Cubs scored two touchdowns in the final quarter on their way to a 30-8 win over the Cougars.

Evan Brown put the Cubs on the board first with a 10-yard touchdown run with 5:52 to play in the first quarter.  The two-point conversion was good on a run by Mateo Kleinhans to give the Cubs an 8-0 lead.  Kleinhans scored early in the second quarter, 10:42 on the clock, on a one-yard touchdown run.  He also ran in the two-point conversion to give Alcester-Hudson a 16-0 lead.  The scored remained 16-0 in favor of the Cubs until halftime.

Neither team was able to score in the third quarter, and the Cubs continued to lead 16-0 going into the fourth quarter.  Jose Lopez had a 10-yard run with 11:15 to play in the game.  Brown scored the two point conversion to extend the Cub lead to 24-0.  Brown put the game out of reach with a two-yard touchdown run with 4:42 to play in the game giving the Cubs a 30-0 lead.  Burke got on the board on a 19-yard run with 2:09 left in the game.

The Cubs finished with 422 yards of total offense, 332 rushing yards and 90 passing yards.  The Cougars had just 153 yards of offense, 134 rushing and 19 passing yards.

Kleinhans was 4-8 passing for 90 yards.  Dominic Egdom had two catches for 64 yards, and Lopez also had two catches for 26 yards.  Lopez led the team with 17 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown.  Kleinhans had 11 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown.  Brown had 13 carries for 46 yards and two touchdowns.  Brown had a team-high 10 tackles, and Aiden Muller had six tackles.
