West Central Volleyball Wins Sixth Straight Match

The West Central Trojan volleyball team extended their winning streak to six matches after a four-set win at home against the Parker/Marion Pheasants on Monday, October 6th.  The Trojans won by scores of 25-16, 28-30, 25-13, and 25-20.

West Central opened the match with a 3-1 run.  The Pheasants responded with a 3-1 of their own to tie the score 4-4.  From there the Trojans took an 11-7 lead and slowly extended that lead to 21-14.  They ended the set with a 4-2 run for a 25-16.

The Pheasants took an early 4-2 lead in the second set.  The Trojans tied the score at 8-8, but Parker/Marion would go back in front at 13-11.  The Pheasants would then go on an 8-3 run to increase their lead to 21-14.  West Central battled back to within two at 23-21 and 24-22.  The Trojans then scored two in a row to tie the score 24-24.  The teams went back and forth to ties all the way to 28-28.  Parker/Marion finally ended the marathon set with two straight to win 30-28.

The two teams continued to battle back and forth to a 4-4 tie to start the third set.  Parker/Marion held a one-point lead at 8-7, but West Central would grab the lead at 11-10.  The Trojan then went on a 9-2 run to go in front 20-12 before finishing the third set with a 25-13 win.

The fourth set started much like the others, with an early tie at 4-4.  West Central grabbed the advantage at 9-7 and worked that to a 15-11 lead.  The Trojans add a 4-0 spurt to extend the lead to 19-11.  They would hold off the Pheasants from there for a 25-20 win.
