West Central Volleyball Continues Winning Streak in Canton

The West Central Trojan volleyball team won their fifth straight match in Canton on Tuesday, September 29th.  The Trojans defeated the C-Hawks in four sets by scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-21, and 25-17.

The opening set was a close battle until the Trojans pulled away late.  The two teams opened with a 3-3 tie.  Canton took a 7-6 lead, but the Trojans would go in front 11-10 later in the set.  West Central would increase that lead to three points, 19-16.  The C-Hawks, however, would score three straight points to tie the score 19-19.  The Trojans answered with a 6-1 run to send the first set in a 25-20 win.

West Central used that momentum early in the second set and built a quick 11-2 lead.  Canton would chip away at deficit.  They cut the lead down to 12-6, then to 17-14, and eventually got within two points at 23-21.  The C-Hawks rallied for three straight points to take a 24-23 lead.  After the Trojans tied the score 24-24, Canton got two in a row to steal a 26-24 win in the second set.

The Trojans did not let the second set linger too long in their minds.  They got out to a quick 3-1 lead to start the third set.  They continued to built on their lead to scores of 10-7 and 16-11.  Canton rallied to tie the score at 18-18.  The score was tied again at 20-20 before the Trojans finished the set on a 5-1 win for the 25-21 victory.

The fourth set started with a 4-4 tie.  Canton would take an 8-6 lead, but West Central went on a 7-1 run to go in front 13-9.  That run seemed to keep the momentum with the Trojans the rest of the match.  They extended their lead to 22-16 and then took the win at 25-17.
