West Central Volleyball Knocks off Tea Area

The West Central Trojan volleyball team earned their first win of the season by getting a road win against the Tea Area Titans on Tuesday, September 1st.  The Trojans won by scores of 25-12, 25-18, 20-25, and 25-23.

West Central opened the first set with a quick 7-1 run.  That set the tone for the remainder of the set.  The Trojans pushed their lead to 14-5 and then 19-9 before winning 25-12.  They kept that momentum going to start the second set and got out to an 8-1 lead.  The Titans were able to regroup and cut the lead down to a point, 10-9.  West Central stopped that momentum and responded with a 7-2 run to push their lead to 17 -11.  They were able to keep a sizable lead through the rest of the set to the 25-18 win.

The Trojans took an early 5-3 lead to start the third set.  They held an 8-7 lead, but the Titans then went on a 5-2 run to go in front 12-10.  The Titans found their groove and push their lead to 20-13.  West Central got within three points, 21-18, but the Titans won the third set 25-20.  Tea Area started the fourth set with a 6-3 lead.  They continued to lead at 11-7 and 15-11, but that’s when West Central went on an 8-3 run to take a 19-18 lead.  Tea responded with three straight to go back in front 21-19.  The Trojans tied the score 23-23 and then scored the final two points to win the set, and match, 25-23.
