Trojan Girls Finish Regular Season with Home Win over Flandreau

The West Central Trojan girls basketball team finished their regular season with a 49-35 win at home over the Flandreau Fliers on Thursday, February 19th.  The win gave West Central a 16-4 overall record and the #1 seed in the Region 3A Tournament.

The Trojans built just a four-point lead, 13-9, by the end of the first quarter.  They added another four points to the lead in the second quarter.  West Central led 27-19 at halftime.  The Trojans continued to slowly build on the lead in the second half.  They extended the advantage to 40-30 by the end of the third quarter and outscored the Fliers 9-5 in the final quarter.

West Central shot 44% (19-43) overall in the game, 46% (6-13) on three-point attempts, and a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line.  Flandreau was 32% (13-41) shooting overall, 20% (3-15) on three-point shots, and 46% (6-13) from the free-throw line.

Kacey Jaton had 15 points and seven rebounds.  Ayla Kramer finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.  Abbi Thornton also had 10 points with six rebounds and two assists.  Ellie Knight added four points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
