Second Half Surge Keeps Trojan Boys Undefeated

The #1 West Central Trojan boys traveled to Dakota Valley High School for a match-up with the Panthers on Tuesday, January 13th.  The Trojans used a second half surge to get a 55-41 win and remain undefeated on the season.

The two teams traded points back-and-fourth throughout much of the first half.  The Trojans led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter.  Both teams scored eight points each in the second quarter, and West Central held their one-point lead, 22-21, at halftime.

The Trojans would start the third quarter on a 9-2 run to extend their lead to 31-23 with 5:00 to play in the quarter.  They would maintain that cushion throughout the quarter and led 40-31 going into the fourth quarter.  The Trojans got the lead to 52-38 with 2:15 to play to roll to the win.

West Central was 53% (21-40) shooting on the night, 39% (7-18) from three-point area, and 60% (6-10) from the free-throw line.  Dakota Valley ended the game shooting 31% (13-42) overall, 28% (7-25) on three-point shots, and 80% (8-10) from the free-throw line.

Will Kuhl ended with 22 points and four rebounds.  Bubba Kono finished with 10 points.  Kolte Garry added eight points and three rebounds.  Boche Knight had seven points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Connor Mebius had five points and three rebounds.
