West Central Boys Overcome Second Quarter for Win

The West Central Trojan boys were able to overcome a rough second quarter to defeat the Wynot Blue Devils 56-45 at home on Friday, January 9th.

The Trojans had a great first quarter and built themselves a 17-9 lead by the end of the first quarter.  Wynot would take advantage of the rough second quarter West Central had.  The Trjoans only scored seven points, and Wynot took a 27-24 lead into halftime.

West Central was able to regroup in the third quarter.  The Trojans outscored Wynot 15-9 and a last-second three-point basket gave West Central a 39-36 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Trojans kept the momentum going in the fourth quarter.  They held the Blue Devils to just nine fourth-quarter points while the offense was able to pull away for the win.

West Central shot 45% (17-38) from the field overall, 31% (5-16) on three-point shots, and 74% (17-23) from the free-throw line.  Wynot finished the game shooting 33% (15-46) overall, 35% (9-26) from three-point area, and 6-6 from the free-throw line.

Connor Mebius finished with 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Will Kuhl had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.  Kolte Garry ended with five points and two rebounds.
