Trojan Volleyball Wins Third Straight Match

The West Central Trojan volleyball team won their third straight match on Tuesday, September 8th.  The Trojans earned a four-set match win against the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies by scores of 25-13, 25-18, 20-25, and 25-20.

West Central started the first set with a great 5-1 run.  That run kept the Trojans in front the entire set.  They extended their lead to 12-6 and then up to 10 points at 22-12.  The Trojans finished the set with a 25-12 win.  After a 2-2 tie to start the second set, the Trojans took a one-point lead at 6-5.  They continued to lead by one, 9-8.  West Central was able to push the lead to 15-10, but the Huskies cut the lead to one point, 15-14. The Trojans were able to stop the rally and extend the lead back to five points, 20-15, before taking the win 25-18.

The third set started with a 3-1 lead by the Trojans.  Elk Point-Jefferson went on a 4-0 run to go in front 5-3.  They continued to lead by two, 8-6, but the Trojans tied the score 10-10.  The Huskies didn’t allow the Trojans to take the lead.  Elk Point-Jefferson went back in front 16-12.  They pushed the lead to five points, 20-15, and stayed in front by about five points to the 25-20 win.

West Central started the fourth set with another 3-1 lead.  That Huskies would eventually tie the score 7-7 and then take a 10-9 lead.  The Trojans counted with a 6-2 run to go in front 15-12.  They continued to lead by three, 18-15, before adding a point to the lead at 21-17.  West Central closed out the set, and match, with a 4-3 scoring advantage for a 25-20 win.

Sophia Gross had 15 kills.  Maddyx Ingalls added 12 kills.  Ellie Knight tallied 35 digs.  Brylee Garry ended with 43 set assists and four ace serves.  Izzy McKinny had five blocks, while Ella Harden finished with five ace serves.
