Trojan Boys Roll into State Tournament Undefeated

The West Central Trojan boys rolled past the Webster Area Bearcats 73-39 in the SoDak 16 on Tuesday, March 10th, in Madison.  With the win West Central advances to the State A Tournament.

The Trojans used a big first and third quarter to help them to the win.  Two minutes into the game, West Central led 8-6.  Over the next six minutes, the Trojans outscored the Bearcats 23-3 for a 31-9 lead going into the second quarter.  Webster Area was able to cut into the lead in the second quarter, but only slightly.  They outscored the Trojans 16-10 for a 41-25 halftime score.

The third quarter was another good one for West Central.  They were able to extend their lead to 63-32 by the end of the third quarter.  The Trojans cruised through the fourth quarter to a 73-39 win.

West Central shot 47% (26-55) from the field overall, 31% (8-26) from three-point area, and 93% (13-14) from the free-throw line.  Webster Area was 32% (14-44) shooting overall, 32% (6-19) on three-point shots, and 50% (5-10) from the free-throw line.

Will Kuhl had 22 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots.  Connor Mebius added 19 points, six assists, three rebounds, and three steals.  Boche Knight ended with nine points and four rebounds.  Tanner Wagner had eight points and seven rebounds.

The Trojans are the #2 seed in the 2026 South Dakota State A Tournament.  The tournament will be held in Rapid City March 19th through 21st.  West Central opens the tournament against #7 Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Thursday, March 19th at 6:00 p.m. central time.
