The West Central Trojan wrestling team had eight wrestlers place at the 2026 South Dakota High School State Individual Championships held in Sioux Falls Thursday, February 26th through Saturday, February 28th. West Central also had a state champion.
Caden Roe won the 106-pound division with a 4-0 record, two technical falls and two decision wins. The Trojans had three other wrestlers in the championship match. Kaden Haakinson finished second in the 113-pound division. Karson Vessells was second in the 126-pound class. Brody Gossen also finished second in the 132-pound division. All three of them finished 3-1 in the tournament.
Bentley Klinkhammer (120) finished third with a 4-1 record. Langdon Klinkhammer (144) took fourth with a 3-2 record. Alex Siemonsma (138) had a seventh-place finish with a 3-2 record. Grayson Pischke (150), Jett Whiting (165), and Luke Larson (215) all finished 0-2.
Hailey Fortney finished eighth with a 2-3 record, getting two pins. Kyliegh Schuller finished 0-2 at the tournament.
