Trojans Girls Win Third Straight, Second Straight at Home

The West Central Trojan girls basketball team won their second straight home game and third in a row after a 69-47 win over the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Tuesday, January 20th.

West Central was able to pull away in the middle quarters in the win.  The Trojans built a six-point lead, 18-12, by the end of the first quarter.  The defense would hold Dell Rapids to just seven points in the second quarter while the offense scored 20 to take a 38-19 lead at halftime.  The Trojans were able to extend the lead to 55-34 going into the final quarter.

West Central shot 55% (29-53) overall in the game, 39% (7-18) from three-point area, and 4-4 from the free-throw line.  Dell Rapids shot 37% (15-41) overall, 42% (8-19) on three-point shots, and 53% (9-17) from three-point area.

Two players finished in double figures.  Kacey Jaton had 26 points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Mackenzie Skonhovd added 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals.  Ellie Knight tallied nine points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Abbi Thornton ended with six points and four assists.
