West Central Takes Home Win over St Thomas More

The West Central Trojans squeaked out a 46-42 win over the St Thomas More Cavaliers at home on Friday, January 16th.

The Trojans held a lead through the first half, but had to come from behind in the fourth quarter.  West Central led 15-10 after the first quarter of play.  They maintained their lead and increased it to 22-16 by halftime.  The Cavaliers put together a rally in the third quarter and put 19 points on the board.  St Thomas More held a 35-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The lead for the Cavaliers did not last long.  Defenses played tough in the fourth quarter, but West Central went on a 6-0 run over six minutes to regain the lead 40-35 with 2:00 to play in the game.  The Trojans were able to hold off the Cavaliers for the four-point win.

West Central shot 37% (15-41) from the field overall, 25% (5-20) on three-point attempts, and 61% (11-18) from the free-throw line.  St Thomas More shot 33% (14-42) for the game, 16% (3-19) on three-point shots, and 69% (11-16) from the free-throw line.

Hayden Heier had 17 points and six rebounds.  Will Kuhl finished with 16 points and four rebounds.  Boche Knight ended with four points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Kolte Garry and Tanner Wagner each had four points as well.
