Big First Quarter Run Leads West Central Girls to Win over Dakota Valley

A 14-2 run to start the helped helped lead the way for the West Central Trojans victory over the Dakota Valley Panthers, 68-36, on Tuesday, January 13th.

The momentum continued for West Central after the fast start.  They led 19-4 at the end of the first quarter.  The Panthers stayed closer to West Central in the second quarter, but the Trojans were still able to extend the lead to 32-15 by halftime.  The Trojan offense kept rolling in the second half.  They outscored the Panthers 19-13 in the third quarter to take a 51-28 lead into the fourth quarter.

West Central shot 53% (27-51) from the field overall, 32% (6-19) on three-point attempts, and 53% (8-15) from the free-throw line.  Dakota Valley finished the game shooting 27% (13-48) overall, just 2-23 on their three-point shots, and 62% (8-13) from the free-throw line.

Four players finished in double figures for the Trojans.  Ella Harden had 17 points and two rebounds.  Kacey Jaton added 13 points, four rebounds, four steals, and two assists.  Mackenzie Skonhovd had 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists.  Abbi Thornton ended with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
