Trojan Girls Win Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout

The West Central Trojan girls basketball team played three games in three days at Wayne State College Monday, December 29th through Wednesday, December 31st.  The Trojans came home with three wins and champions of the 2025 Elkhorn Valley Bank & Trust Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout.

West Central 51, Cedar Catholic 26

The Trojans opened the shootout with a 25-point win over Cedar Catholic on Monday.  West Central used a pretty balanced scoring attack to lead them to the win.  Kacey Jaton finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Ellie Knight added eight points, foure rebounds, and six assists.  Mackenzie Skonhovd also had eight points with three rebounds and three assists.  Kaylie Schutlz, Abbi Thornton, and Ayla Kramer all had five points each.

West Central 53, Wayne 41

Two players finished in double figures for the Trojans in their semifinal game against Wayne on Tuesday.  Jaton had 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Thornton added 11 points and two rebounds.  Knight ended with eight points, six rebounds, and six assists.

West Central 62, Pender 57

The Trojans had four players finish in double figures in their third straight game on Wednesday to propel them to the win over Pender.  Ella Harden had 16 points and two assists.  Jaton almost had another double-double finishing with 12 points and nine rebounds.  Skonhovd added 11 points, three assists, and two steals.  Thornton had 10 points and six rebounds.
