Chargers Pull Away from West Central Girls

In a battle of top teams in Class A, the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers pulled away from the West Central Trojans for a 57-34 win on Friday, January 2nd.

The first two and a half quarters were a strong defensive battle between the two teams.  The Chargers ended the first quarter with an 11-7 lead.  They kept that lead in the second quarter, and Sioux Falls Christian held a 20-14 advantage going into halftime.

The Trojans cut the lead down to two points, 25-23, with 4:20 to play in the third quarter.  That’s when the Chargers started to gain some offensive traction.  Sioux Falls Christian ended the third quarter leading 36-26.  They would outscore the Trojans 21-8 in the final quarter.

West Central shot 21% (8-39) overall in the game, 24% (4-17) from three-point area, and 61% (14-23) from the free-throw line.  Sioux Falls Christian shot 40% (18-45) overall, 33% (6-18) on three-point attempts, and 58% (15-26) from the free-throw line.

Kacey Jaton finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Ayla Kramer had four points and two steals.  Ellie Knight had three points, six rebounds, five steals, and two assists.  Mackenzie Skonhovd, Ella Harden, and Abbi Thornton all had three points each.
