Strong First Quarter Leads Trojan Boys to Win over Groton

The West Central Trojan boys used a strong first quarter to put them in control of the game against the Groton Tigers on Friday, December 19th.  West Central outscored Groton 23-10 in the opening quarter and finished with a 69-42 win.

The Trojan offense continued to put points on the board in the second quarter.  After a 23-point opening quarter, West Central outscored Groton 25-11 in the second quarter to take a 48-21 lead into halftime.  That first half lead helped them cruise through the second half.  The Trojans led 61-32 after three quarters of play.

West Central shot 54% (27-50) for the game, 35% (7-20) from three-point area, and 73% (8-11) from the free-throw line.  Groton finished the game shooting 39% (15-39) overall, 32% (8-25) on three-point shots, and 4-4 from the free-throw line.

Three players finished in double figures for West Central.  Will Kuhl had 15 points and eight rebounds.  Connor Mebius added 14 points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Boche Knight finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Hayden Heier had nine points, three rebounds, and three steals.
