The West Central Trojan volleyball team hosted The Tri-Valley Mustangs in their final regular season match on Monday, October 27th. The Trojans took the win by scores of 24-26, 25-19, 26-24, and 25-23.
The opening set began with an early 2-2 tie. The Mustangs then took a 5-3 lead and pushed that advantage to 12-8. The Trojans were able to tie the score 14-14. The two teams were tied again at 17-17. West Central grabbed a 20-19 lead, but Tri-Valley was able to rally to tie at 22-22. The Mustangs went ahead 24-22, but West Central fought off set point to tie the Mustangs 24-24. Tri-Valley, however, would score the next two points for a 26-24 win.
The second set also started with an early 2-2 tie. The Trojans broke away for a 6-5 lead and extended it to 10-6. That little spurt kept them in front the rest of the second set. West Central pushed the lead to six points at 13-7. They stayed in front by six points at scores of 16-10, 20-14, and 23-17 before taking the 25-19 win.
The Mustangs opened the third set with two straight points. West Central tied the score 5-5, but Tri-Valley responded with four in a row to go back in front 9-5. The Mustangs continued to lead by scores of 11-8, 15-12, and 19-15. Tri-Valley was clinging to a 21-19 lead before West Central rallied to tie the score 23-23. The score was tied again 24-24, and then the Trojans scored the final two points for a 26-24 win.
The fourth set got going with another tie, 4-4. Tri-Valley then took an 8-5 lead and grew it to six points, 12-6. The Trojans roared back with a 7-1 run to tie the set 13-13. The score was tied again 15-15 before West Central scored three in a row for an 18-15 lead. Tri-Valley responded with four straight points to go back in front 19-18. After a 20-20 tie, West Central took a 23-21 advantage and was able to hold off the Mustangs 25-23 for the match win.
Ella Harden finished with 17 kills. Maddyx Ingalls had 15 kills and seven digs. Sophia Gross added 12 kills and three blocks. Cambree Ideker had 52 set assists with four digs.
