West Central Volleyball Takes Home Win over Garretson

The West Central Trojan volleyball team won their 17th match of the season after a straight-set home victory over the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, October 21st.  The Trojans won by scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-17.

The first set was a close battle with West Central getting a 3-1 lead to start.  They started with a 3-1 lead and continued to lead by three-to-four points to a 12-8 score.  The Blue Dragons went on a 5-1 run to tie the set 13-13.  From there the Trojans went on a 4-1 run to retake the lead 17-14.  Garretson again battled back to tie the score 21-21 and then take the lead 22-21.  The Trojans would finish the set on a 4-0 run to win 25-22.

After a 3-2 start to the second set, the Trojans were able to build on their lead throughout the second set.  West Central extended the lead to 7-3, 11-5, and then to 14-8.  They were able to maintain a good distance from Garretson as the lead grew to 22-15 before they won 25-16.

Garretson opened the third set with a quick 4-1 run.  The Blue Dragons kept the lead to a 7-5 score.  West Central would tie the score 10-10, and the two teams went back and forth to a 13-13 score.  The Trojans would then go on a 4-1 run for a 17-14 lead.  That spurt was the momentum they needed to finish the match.  They stayed in front to a 21-17 score and then finished the set with a 4-0 run.
