West Central Volleyball Back in the Win Column

After a tough week of playing back-to-back undefeated teams, the West Central Trojans got back in the win column on Tuesday, September 30th with a straight-set win at home over the Canton C-Hawks.  The Trojans won by scores of 25-12, 26-24, and 25-22.

West Central made quick work of the first set.  They got out to an early 5-2 lead and cruised from there.  The lead grew to 14-6, 16-9, and then 20-10.  The Trojans finished the set on a 5-2 run for a 25-12 victory.

The second set started with a 3-2 lead by Canton.  They continued to hold a small lead at scores of 7-5, 10-8, and 13-11.  The C-Hawks were able to extend the lead to six points, 19-13.  West Central got on a roll and cut the lead to just one point, 20-19.  The momentum of the 6-1 run carried them to a 22-21 advantage.  The score was then tied 22-22, 23-23, and 24-24.  The Trojans would score the final two points to get the come-from-behind 26-24 win.

West Central grabbed an early 3-1 lead to start the third set and continued to lead at 5-3.  Canton went on a 5-0 run to go in front 8-5.  The Trojans would counter with a 5-0 run of their own to go back in front 13-10.  They slowly expanded the lead to 20-13.  Canton, however, would not go away quietly.  The C-Hawks got within two points, 24-22, but the Trojans ended the run, and the match, and took the win 25-22.

Maddy Ingalls finished with 10 kills and eight digs.  Ella Harden added eight kills and four ace serves.  Sophia Gross had four kills and four blocks.  Cambree Ideker had 24 set assists and nine digs.
