West Central Volleyball Faces Second Straight Undefeated Team

Two days after playing then undefeated Dakota Valley, the West Central Trojans traveled to Lennox and faced an undefeated Oriole team on Thursday, September 25th.  The Orioles took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-18.

The Trojans started the first set by scoring the first two points.  Lennox then went on a 7-1 run for a 7-3 lead.  They increased the lead to five points at 11-6 and 17-12.  The Trojans got within three points, 19-16, but the Orioles closed out the set with a 6-3 run for a 25-19 win.

The Orioles took a quick 3-0 lead to start the second set.  West Central got within a point early, 5-6, but Lennox pushed the lead to five points, 15-10.  The Trojans cut the lead to two points multiple times at 15-13, 18-16, and 20-18.  Lennox, however, kept the lead to the 25-21 win.

The Orioles built a small lead early in the third set at 6-4.  They continued to lead by two points, 9-7, but West Central went on a 4-1 run to take an 11-10 lead.  The Trojans couldn’t hold the lead for long as the Orioles went back in front 15-13.  They then went on a 6-1 run to make the score 21-14 on their way to the 25-18 win.

The Trojans are 9-5 overall.  They are scheduled to play Tripp-Delmont/Armour and Jones County at Wessington Springs High School on Saturday, September 27th.
