The West Central Trojan football team hosted the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars on Friday, September 12th. The Trojans scored 28 unanswered points on their way to a 35-6 victory.
West Central opened the game with a bang. On the very first offensive play, Carter Gross connected with Hayden Heier for a 52-yard touchdown pass. John Goehring made the extra point, and with 11:49 on the clock, the Trojans led 7-0. Eli Mundahl added a one-yard touchdown run with 4:53 remaining in the first quarter. Goehring made the extra point, and West Central led 14-0.
The score remained 14-0 until very late in the second quarter. Gross scored on a four-yard run with just :47 left in the second quarter. Another Goehring extra point gave the Trojans a 21-0 lead going into halftime.
Braylon Robbins found the end zone for the Trojans about midway through the third quarter. Robbins scored on a four-yard run with 6:54 remaining. The made extra point extended the lead to 28-0. McCook Central/Montrose was able to get on the board with 1:04 to play in the third on a 15-yard touchdown run. Their extra point was no good leaving the score 28-6.
Boche Knight put the exclamation point on the night with a 40-yard punt return for a touchdown with 8:02 to play in the game.
The Trojans have now won two straight games and are 2-1 on the season. They will travel to Lennox to face the Orioles on Friday, September 19th.
