The West Central 17U Gold team had their season come to an end in a “Last Chance” single-elimination tournament to qualify for state on Sunday, July 20th. West Central won their first bracket game against Mission, but lost to Tri-Valley in the state-qualifying game.
West Central Gold 15, Mission 5
A big fourth inning helped West Central to advance to the state-qualifying game in the “Last Chance” tournament. Each team scored a run in the first inning. Mission added three more in the top of the second for a 4-1 lead. West Central got one run back in the bottom of the second and then tied the game, 4-4, with two runs in the bottom of the third. West Central then had an 11-run bottom of the fourth to go ahead 15-4. Mission scored one time in the top of the fifth, and the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Jacob Mallinger had two hits and three RBIs. Maddax Jackson had two hits and one RBI. Jett Whiting, Kash Garry, and Judah Wuebben all had a single with an RBI each. Noah Erickson and Eli Koehn both had a single, and Taylan Sichmeller had an RBI.
Tri-Valley 14, West Central Gold 2
In the state-qualifying game, Tri-Valley built a big lead early to help them to the win. Tri-Valley scored two times in the top of the first, five in the second, and four in the third for an 11-0 lead. They would get three more runs in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 14-0. West Central scored a single run in the fourth and fifth innings before the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Braylon Robbins had a double and an RBI. Koehn also had a double. Erickson, Whiting, and Wuebben all had a single in the game.
