The Dell Rapids Mudcats put together a late rally to get a 6-5 come-from-behind win over the Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks on Tuesday, July 1st.
Kyle Konechne scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first to give the Gamecocks a 1-0 lead. The Mudcats tied the game, 1-1, with a run in the top of the third. Blake Svoboda put the Gamecocks back in front, 2-1, with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. They would add two more runs on an RBI fielder’s choice by Broc Haldeman and Svoboda for a 4-1 lead. Dell Rapids tied the game, 4-4, with three runs in the top of the seventh inning. They kept the rally going and scored two in the top of the eighth to take their first lead, 6-4. The Gamecocks only got one run in the bottom of the eighth.
Konechne had three hits in the game. Svoboda had a single with two RBIs. Devan Garry added a single and an RBI. Joe Hanisch and Tyler Migilante both had one hit each. Haldeman had an RBI. Svoboda pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts. Garry pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Migliante pitched an inning and allowed three earned runs on a hit and two walks with two strikeouts.
