The Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks won two of their last three games. They beat Madison on Thursday, June 19th and then split a double-header against the Flandreau Cardinals on Sunday, June 22nd.
Wood Ducks 1, Madison 0
Nathan Adrian drove home the only run of the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the second. Logan Larson scattered eight hits and didn’t walk any batters while striking out 14. Adrian finished with two hits. Keaton Vessells had a double.
Cardinals 12, Wood Ducks 5
After two scoreless innings, the Cardinals put three runs on the board in the top of the third. The Wood Ducks got a run in the bottom of the fourth. Flandreau then got five runs in top of the fifth and two more in the sixth to build a 10-1 lead. Hartford/Humboldt scored four in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 10-5. Flandreau added two more in the top of the seventh.
Brayden Odegaard had two hits, one a home run, with four RBIs. Hunter Den Boer had two singles. Jearl Jesson had a hit with an RBI. Orlando Whiting finished with a double. Hayden Whiting and Camden McDonald both had a hit each.
Wood Ducks 4, Cardinals 3
The Wood Ducks held off the Cardinals in the seventh for a 4-3 win in the second game. Flandreau got a run in the second and third for a 2-0 lead. The Wood Ducks got their first run in the top of the fifth and added another in the sixth to tie the game 2-2. Hartford/Humboldt scored two run in the top of the seventh. The Cardinals scored a run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and had runners on second and third, but a ground out to short stop ended the game.
Rayce Whiting had two hits, one a triple, with an RBI. Vessells had two singles. H. Whiting added a single and an RBI. Den Boer and Jesson each had a single. McDonald ended with an RBI.
