Panthers Stun West Central Softball in Final Inning

The Dakota Valley Panthers rallied in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-4 win over the West Central Trojans on Monday, May 5th.

The game was scoreless through three innings.  Each team scored a run in the fourth inning for a 1-1 tie.  Dakota Valley took the lead, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the fifth.  The Trojans tied the game in the top of the sixth on an RBI bunt single by Brauna Hoff.  West Central took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the seventh on a hit by Sophie Rolfson and RBI sacrifice fly by Ayla Kramer.  Dakota Valley cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI ground out, which was the second out of the inning.  A walk to the next batter put two runners on with two outs.  M Riibe then hit a 3-run home run to earn the walk-off win for the Panthers.

Rolfson and Hoff both had a single and an RBI.  Kadence Lupkes had a double.  Elisabeth Miller, Addy Kunzweiler, and Izzi Parsons all had one hit each.  Kramer added an RBI.  Miller pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
