Trojan Softball Overcomes Deficit for Last Inning Win

The West Central Trojans overcame a 6-0 deficit to Elk Point-Jefferson on Monday, April 21st.  Sophie Rolfson drove home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Trojans a 7-6 win over the Elks.

Elk Point-Jefferson scored three runs in the top of the first and three more in the second for a 6-0 lead.  Maddy Kunzweiler scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the second to put West Central on the board.  Elisabeth Miller had a solo home run, and Briauna Hoff and Ayla Kramer scored later in the bottom of the third to make the score 6-4.

Miller drove home another run in the bottom of the fourth to pull West Central within a run, 6-5.  The score remained 6-5 until the bottom of the seventh.  With one out in the inning, a walk and single put two runners on base.  Hoff had a ground ball and reached on an error that also scored Miller.  Rolfson then delivered the game winning ground ball to give the Trojans a walk-off win.

Miller had two hits, one a home run, and two RBIs.  Kramer also had two hits.  M. Kunzweiler and Kadence Lupkes both had a double.  Izza Parsons and Addy Kunzweiler each had a single.  Rolfson and Emma Voeltz each had an RBI.  Hoff pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on five hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Miller pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit and three walks with 12 strikeouts.
