Good Mix of Experience and Talent Headline Trojan Wrestling

The West Central Trojan wrestling team is coming off a great 2023-2024 season.  The Trojans won the Region 1A Tournament, placed fourth at the State A Individual Tournament, and placed sixth at the State A Dual Tournament.

“With just over 50 wrestlers on the team this season we have a good mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented younger athletes.  Last year was the first time in school history that we won the region tournament and also our highest placings in both the individual and dual tournaments.  Although it will be hard to replace last years senior class we are hoping to build on that success and have another great season,” said head coach Cole Grocott.

West Central returns seven state place winners from a year ago in Kaden Haakinson, Bentley Klinkhammer, Brody Gossen, Karson Vessells, Langdon Klinkhammer, Keaton Vessells, and Hailey Fortney.  The Trojans will look to seniors Orlando Whiting, Keaton Vessells, Cain Grocott, and Cody Opitz to help lead this year’s team.

The season opens on Thursday, December 5th at Sioux Falls Washington for a quadrangular with the Washington, Sioux Falls Jefferson, and Sioux Falls Roosevelt.
